The Early Psychosis and Intervention Program provides early identification, assessment and treatment for individuals between the ages of 14 and 35 residing in Windsor-Essex County who are experiencing first episode psychosis. The focus of this program is upon minimizing the impact of disruption to a young person’s functioning and to enhance psychological and social development. Supports are focused upon maintaining or returning to educational, vocational and social activities. Support and education is provided to both the individuals who experience psychosis and to their families so as to assist in the recovery of first episode psychosis.
The team provides:
Comprehensive assessment and referral to community resources, treatment, psycho-social support, family involvement and family education, facilitating access and early identification, public education, medication support, assistance with symptom and behaviour management, skill development, person centered planning, and advocacy.

Griefworks is a community-based program designed to address loss experienced by children and adolescents up to 18 years of age.
Services include:

Activity-based therapy for children and youth.
Structured therapy for individuals experiencing traumatic and/or complicated grief.
Therapeutic groups for similarly aged children who have experienced the death of a loved one.
Caregiver support and education.
Community consultation with professionals involved in supporting the child.

Eligibility
Children and youth (up to 18 years of age) who have experienced a recent loss through death and are residents of Windsor and Essex County.

Children First in Essex County

Children First provides individualized services to families with children from birth to 6 years of age who are at risk for or who are experiencing developmental or mental health challenges. We provide services to families in their homes, child care centres, other early childhood settings or at the agency. We partner with parents and caregivers to develop a plan together based on the strengths and needs of the family.

Services are voluntary and at no cost to the family.


Family Respite Services

Family Respite Services works in partnership with families who have children with disabilities. We coordinate support and provide short breaks that strengthen families and contribute to children having meaningful lives in their community.

Our vision is to have a community where families are strong and all children belong.

Our mandate is to support children from infancy to age 18 who have developmental disabilities or mental health challenges. Respite for children with mental health challenges is provided to children and youth who are actively receiving support/treatment from a children's mental health centre.

The Regional Children's Centre is an accredited children's mental health centre working in collaboration with caregivers, children, youth and their families who are experiencing mental health and/or developmental concerns. We offer a variety of programs and services that are flexible and designed to meet the individual needs of each child and family. At RCC, we believe that members of your family play an important role in your child/youth's journey to wellness. We believe that families are our Partners in developing a treatment plan that responds to the needs of your child/youth.

Each of our programs provide services to varying ages. Your child may not be eligible for all the services that we offer.


Maryvale

Founded in 1929, Maryvale is a mental health treatment centre in Windsor Ontario, where adolescents experiencing serious emotional, psychological and mental distress can receive therapeutic assistance. Our clinical experts provide multi-disciplinary treatment, from psychologists, child psychiatrists, social workers, youth care workers, special education teachers, and nurse practitioners. Our programs and services are aimed at meeting a youth at which ever point they might find themselves in their mental health journey.

OUTPATIENT COUNSELING - Youth (ages 13-18) experiencing mild to severe mental health concerns and moderate to severe concurrent addictions issues are referred by a number of sources. Services and supports include individual, group and family therapy utilizing a variety of evidenced based therapeutic modalities. Currently, these services are offered in person and at five satellite office locations including Windsor (Maryvale Campus), Leamington, Essex, Belle River and LaSalle.

DAY TREATMENT SCHOOL - Combines school and treatment for adolescents (ages 13-17) who are experiencing significant or persistent problems in their community school and may also be experiencing conflict in their families and/or the community. Within this program, there are specialty classrooms to best support individual student needs. This on-campus school operates in conjunction with the Greater Essex County District School Board.

ACUTE CARE MENTAL HEALTH HOSPITAL - Provides services for children under the age of 16 from Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent who are experiencing significant mental health difficulties. This program provides timely assessments, stabilization and referral to community services for ongoing assistance.

CALL-IN SERVICES - Available for both youth and parent/guardians.

The Youth Wellness Hub Windsor-Essex offers free services to youth ages 12 to 25 without a wait list or referral. This one-stop-shop model of care allows for a multitude of services all under one roof in a youth friendly space. When a youth or family member enters the building, they will be greeted by a friendly face. The Intake Clerk will help guide the way to the proper services and people to ensure a smooth and low stress experience.
